About the Host

Tibby Sunshine Perez-Starks

Radically compassionate podcast host

Hi, I’m Tibby (she/her). I am a creative communicator and podcast host of Fostering Compassion. I have a passion for helping others and raising awareness. Over the last 15 years, I have worked with various nonprofits nationwide, from adult ESL tutoring to advocating for youth in foster care, and I am excited to bring my stories and experiences to the world at large in an effort to educate and inspire others.

Education
I am a first-generation college graduate with a master's degree in communication and a graduate certificate in culture and diversity from the University of Denver. I love to learn and continue to grow through my research and nonprofit work.

Personal Life
I am many things to many people. I am a daughter, sister, wife, friend, feminist, animal lover, activist, creative, and now a podcaster (among many other things). I married my best friend in 2011 and have moved around the country several times, having lived in four states. In 2023, we began our journey to becoming foster parents and hope to be licensed soon. Additionally, I have been rescuing retired race greyhounds since 2008 and have two currently.
